The Page Jazz Band meets twice a week and is made up of band students from seventh and eighth grade. In this club, students will learn many different styles of music, including swing, pop, rock, funk, blues, and more. Students are expected to practice on their own to prepare music from one lesson to the next. The Page Jazz Band plays are several school functions throughout the year.

Students can get involved in the Page Jazz Band through their daytime band class. Interested students should see Mrs. Garvey for a Jazz Band Commitment form. There is no formal audition and all instruments are welcome.

Students should join jazz band because they get to challenge themselves while playing new styles of music. Students will have fun playing everything from their favorite popular music to jazz standards. Students will learn to improvise, play blues scales, and count intricate rhythms. Students in eighth grade will act as mentors to seventh graders.

The Page Jazz Band provides an opportunity for camaraderie and musical collaboration among seventh and eighth grade band students. The band benefits the school culture by providing a place to play a variety of music not normally covered in concert band class. Through performance, students enrich the school culture by playing at events throughout the school year.
